What Happened To Everyone Who Became Ghost Rider?

9. Carter Slade

Cosmic Ghost Rider Frank Castle
Marvel Comics

Carter Slade was a school teacher traveling from Ohio to Montana for work, when he came upon some white men posing as Native Americans terrorizing a group of people. Rightly seeing this as the kind of assholery that we just don't make anymore, Carter confronted them, and got filled with bullets for his trouble.

Fortunately, he was saved by some friendly stereotypes of actual Native Americans, who brought him to their doctor and walking talking stereotype, Flaming Star. Informed that he was sent by the great spirit (*insert eye roll here*) to be a protector of the weak, Carter took up the role of the original Ghost Rider. Although possessing no direct relationship with later incarnations, Carter's role as the Ghost Rider was basically the same. Avenge the innocent by punishing the guilty.

Because Carter's stories took place so long ago, we never really figure out what happened to him, just like we never really figure out what happened to DC's Jonah Hex. But we like to think he spent however much time he had doing what he did best, riding around protecting those who couldn't protect themselves.
