There are few items in the Marvel Universe as powerful as the Infinity Gauntlet, a fact most Marvel fans have grown accustomed to over the last few years in particular. In Avengers: Infinity War, the Mad Titan Thanos did the unthinkable and wielded all six Infinity Gems to wipe out half the life in the entire universe, making the upcoming Avengers: Endgame the most significant release in the Marvel movie calendar thus far.
However, in the comics, Thanos was not the only figure to wield the power of all six Infinity Gems. Dozens of Marvel characters, heroic or otherwise, have donned the gauntlet in the past, and though few have matched the feat Thanos achieved in 1992's infamous Infinity Gauntlet story-arc, each has - in their own way - had to deal with a wide array of consequences after doing so.
Of course, the novelty of recounting what happened to those who wielded the Gauntlet in the comics is interesting in itself, but given that the weapon could come into play in Endgame too - and potentially even be wielded by someone other than Thanos - it makes the entire exercise even more interesting...

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
