Sidney Debris holds a special place in their heart of many a Batman fan.

One of the great 'one and done' characters of the phenomenal Batman: The Animated Series, Sid the Squid succeeded where so many more illustrious names failed: Sidney killed Batman.

In an episode titled The Man Who Killed Batman, Sid gets his moment in the spotlight after being part of a propane explosion that saw the Caped Crusader fall to his death. Going from bumbling wannabe to A-list mobster overnight, Debris becomes the envy of heavy hitters such as the Joker, Penguin and the Riddler.

By the time this outing concluded, Bats would obviously not be quite as dead as we'd all been led to believe. Realising that Sid the Squid was in over his head, the back-from-the-grave Dark Knight used his pull to get Sidney put in a low-risk prison where he'd be viewed as a rock star rogue - while also putting him out of harm's way from the more sinister villains who would look to take advantage of him.

While that was it for Sidney Debris in Batman: The Animated Series, the character would make a couple of brief appearances in the Batman: The Adventures Continue comic book in 2020, where he found himself interrogated by the World's Greatest Detective.
