What Marvel's New Mutants Look Like In The Comics

3. Magik/ Illyana 'Snowflake' Rasputin

Magik pretty much looks to have leaped right from the page to the screen. Or perhaps that's teleported.

In The Comics

Okay, this one is a little complicated.

Illyana Rasputin is the younger sister of X-Men Colossus. She was a little girl when we first meet her, however, she gets abducted and taken to Limbo, where she is tortured and trained in mystic arts by demons and devils, and returns aged by seven years into a teenager and now also with the mutant power of teleportation.

Now, while it seems unlikely all of these story elements will be part of the film, visually, the likeness is striking. In the comics, Magik has long blonde hair and is often shown to have a look on her face that is somewhat...distant.

Of course, the costumes are unlikely to be quite what we've seen her wear in the comics. She often has horns, sometimes even hooves, and armour and/or more revealing outfits. But in the movie, it's doubtful we'll be seeing that.

In The Movie

The visual similarities, as already qualified, are striking. The blonde hair, even the similar hairstyles, Anya Taylor-Joy embodies the character incredibly well.

Again, we never really see her use her powers, but there is a moment in the trailer where we see a young Magik holding a cuddly toy, so while we're unlikely to get the exact same kind of backstory as in the comics, it seems we will be seeing some kind of thematic similarity, with perhaps the mysterious hospital taking Illyana Rasputin at an early age.

Also, at this stage, it's unclear whether her connection to Colossus will remain in the film.
