Where To Start With... Batman Comics

Batman: The Court Of Owls

court of owls 2 The New 52 is a line-wide relaunch of all of DC's superhero properties, that turns back the clock on DC mythos, histories and even origins of some titles for the new generation. For Batman's debut storyline in this brave new world, he's fighting the Court of Owls, a shadowy conspiracy of Gotham's most powerful residents as they attempt to destroy Batman's sanity and spirit. Scott Snyder's take on Batman is as a true detective; these stories are full of dialogue, filled with twists and conspiracies. These engrossing elements are tied together with the unique art of Greg Capullo. It is the perfect throwback art style to establish the New 52's Dark Knight. This creative team have set the tone for DC treatment of the caped crusader for the foreseeable future. Honourable Mentions: Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean, Batman: Son of the Demon by Mike W. Barr and Jerry Bingham and Morrison's Batman Incorporated Series.
