The Darkest Knight
Following the Crisis On Infinite Earths and its great cull (DC's reboot of its sprawling character back catalogue), we were introduced to a new Batman. The dark and serious detective was born, one of anger and driven by his sense of justice. Frank Miller's Year One tale became the accepted version of Batman's early career. This became, and still is, a huge influence on all caped crusader tales (including Tim Burton) from that point. If you are this deep into the Batman universe, this is the Dark Knight story that you absolutely cannot do without. It however is not on my list.
