Murder mystery films have enjoyed something of a comeback in recent years, and next up we've got The Thursday Murder Club - an adaptation of Richard Osman's 2020 novel of the same name.

Though there's been some concern among fans of the novel series that Pierce Brosnan is just a bit too prim and proper to play tattooed ex-trade unionist Ron Ritchie, pretty much everyone agrees that Helen Mirren is a spot-on casting pick for retired spy Elizabeth Best.

Mirren has been fan-cast as the smart, no-bulls**t leader of the group of septuagenarian sleuths since the first book came out, and Osman himself has said that countless fans have asked him to cast Mirren in the role were a film to ever be made.

And so, that's precisely what he did. 

The part just fits her like a glove, as was confirmed with the recent release of the film's first trailer, where she seems to be having quite the ball as Elizabeth, as we knew she would.
