The Captain America character has certainly transformed from a rather dull presence to one with considerably more appeal in the films released since Captain America: The First Avenger came out in 2011. Last year's The Winter Soldier is undoubtedly one of the best titles in the latest run of the MCU, thanks in no small part to Chris Evans's great performance. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the most action-packed of the latest Marvel movies, which is saying something when you consider how few breaks to the fighting there were in the latest Avengers installment. But for all his background in the military, Steve Rogers - aka Captain America - prefers his trusty shield over firearms any day of the week. While it's not unusual for a superhero to eschew the use of guns in favour of more bespoke methods of taking out the bad guys, the proliferation of guns in The Winter Soldier makes it more surprising that Captain America never once feels the need to resort to using one. Good job, Captain.
