10 Actors About To Make Their Best Movie
9. Alicia Silverstone - Bugonia
Alicia Silverstone will probably always be best known for her iconic performance as Cher in Clueless, though her career momentum was seriously derailed by her turn as Batgirl in Batman and Robin a few years later.
The actress spent most of the 2000s doing little of merit or consequence, though in the 2010s she began to appear in more worthy projects, most notably small but memorable roles in Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Lodge.
And Silverstone is imminently due to reunite with Lanthimos on his next work, Bugonia - a remake of the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet!
Silverstone will play the mother of protagonist Teddy (Jesse Plemons) - a conspiracy theorist who kidnaps a pharma CEO (Emma Stone) amid the belief that she's actually an alien planning to destroy Earth.
Given that Silverstone is barely a decade older than Plemons, it's reasonable to assume she'll be donning some serious prosthetics to play his ma, and it should in turn offer her the boldest acting role of her entire career.
Hell, Variety even has her pegged as a possible Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee at the moment. Here's hoping.
