Tom Holland earned high acclaim for his first live-action movie role in disaster film The Impossible, and then of course became a global mega-star by portraying Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Outside of the MCU, however, Holland has struggled to find vehicles worthy of his talents, with the likes of Dolittle, Chaos Walking, Cherry, Uncharted, and TV series The Crowded Room all receiving mixed-to-negative reviews.

But Holland is definitely putting his best foot forward by starring in Christopher Nolan's new fantasy film The Odyssey - an adaptation of Homer's legendary epic poem.

Nolan is probably the single most in-demand high-profile filmmaker working today, and just about any working actor would near enough kill to be in one of his movies.

Leaked set photos seem to suggest that Holland is most likely portraying Telemachus, the son of Odysseus (Matt Damon) and Penelope (Anne Hathaway), who sets off on a journey to find his missing father.

Even though Holland is already a star in his own right, given Nolan's track record for delivering uncommonly visceral tentpole experiences, it's highly likely that this is the best thing the actor has ever been a part of.
