10 Actors Not Returning For Upcoming Sequels
1. Wesley Snipes – Blade Reboot
It’s hard to imagine anyone other than aging action star and occasional tax avoider Wesley Snipes playing the most iconic vampire hunter since Buffy hung up her puffy nineties’ sweaters and pleather pants. But believe it or not Blade, the titular kung fu kicking killer of the already undead, is set to grace our screens again in coming years, and he’ll be played by Moonlight/True Detective season 3 man of the moment Mahershala Ali.
On the one hand the recasting makes sense; hard as it is to admit given his kick ass antics in the original trilogy (well, the first two films at least), Snipes is getting on in years. An action heavy sequel might have fallen victim to the same fate as later entries of other franchises, prompting giggles from audiences unable to buy their older stars as believable tough guys.
It also makes sense, given Marvel’s dominance at the box office, for the company to re-establish the character in the hopes of creating another cash cow to accompany Deadpool, Captain Marvel, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and every other previously forgotten property now filling multiplexes every other week.
