10 Actors That Are Actually Decent Musicians
2. Jack Black
Throughout all of Hollywood, Jack Black seems like the one dude who could be anybody's best friend. Though his more extravagant behaviour in movies tends to be a bit hit or miss, it's nearly impossible hate the guy given how much energy he has both on the screen and in interviews. And when it comes to the music, Tenacious D is...pretty much exactly what you'd expect someone like Jack Black to make.
Compared to other "legends" of the genre like Spinal Tap and the Rutles, Tenacious D is basically a rock band that relies solely on its sense of humour. Just from the opening lyrics of something like Wonderboy and The Metal, the songs are not really meant to be taken all that seriously, instead deserving a spot next to Steel Panther or Dethklok. Then again, the people that Black has surrounded himself with are actually fairly legit.
As much as this kind of project could have squeaked by doing the bare minimum, there are actually some legendary musicians who pop up every now and again, from the Dust Brothers producing their songs to having metal god Ronnie James Dio contributing a verse to the song Kickapoo. Though Tribute might not in fact be the Greatest Song in the World, it's safe to say that Jack's approach to music has certainly not exhausted its healthy amount of rocket sauce.
