10 Actors Who Admit To Bombing Big Auditions

2. Chris Pine - Avatar

Sixth Sense Michael Cera

The movie: Despite its surprising lack of cultural relevancy, Avatar remains the highest grossing film of all time. It's a sci-fi take on the classic Pocahontas tale while throwing in elements like in Unobtainium , blue aliens and bland ol' Sam Worthington.

The actor: Chris Pine is no stranger to sci-fi himself with his role as the rebooted Captain Kirk in the Star Trek films. He's a endlessly charismatic actor with good looks to boot. Surely he would have brought a little more life to the role of Avatar's Jake Sully.

The audition: You may be asking yourself, "How do you audition for a movie that is primarily CGI?" Evidently, very awkwardly:

"[Y]our back is sweating and you’re thinking about the laundry that you have to do and somehow seamlessly you can then pretend to be a man in a loincloth standing in front of blue people saying lines like, ‘Come follow me! I’ll save you!’ And sometimes you just can’t buy it. I walked into that room absolutely not believing myself. How dare I put that poor casting director through the experience of watching me? Halfway through, I just stopped; she was maybe smiling or laughing at me."

Usually you want the casting director laughing with you, not at you.
