10 Actors Who Are Actually Brilliant Musicians

5. Hugh Laurie

From his earliest appearances in his long running TV show with Stephen Fry, Fry and Laurie, Hugh Laurie took every opportunity to display his musicality, often performing comical songs. A lifelong blues and jazz fan, it wasn't until 2011, however, that he got the chance to show what he could really do.

It took the unlikely emergence of Laurie as an American TV superstar in the drama House to enable him to be able to capitalise on his new found higher profile. He recorded his first album, Let Them Talk, in 2011 and followed up a couple of years later with Didn't It Rain. Both albums tapped into his love of blues and jazz with Laurie playing guitar and piano as well as singing.

The albums were big sellers, earning Laurie gold and silver discs. Some have expressed a dislike for the strong American accent that he adopts whilst singing the classics of the New Orleans songbook, but that is more a matter of preference. What is undeniable is that Laurie would seem to be an even more talented musician than he is an actor.
