There was an awful lot to take in when the first trailer for Matt Reeves' The Batman broke the internet last year, with riddles aplenty and the first look at Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight being high up on the list of things to unpack. However, unquestionably, the biggest takeaway coming out of this initial glimpse at the latest version of Gotham was the appearance of Colin Farrell's Oswald Copplepott, aka The Penguin; or what at first appeared to be a lack of.

Audiences around the world found themselves double-taking their screens as a rain-soaked Farrell looked completely unrecognisable after putting on a decent amount of weight and covering his face with Penguin-esque prosthetics. Further behind the scenes shots of the project reveal that the Irish star is also sporting a sweet combover and a few nasty facial scars which will likely be explained when the movie arrives in 2022.

Between Farrell's jaw-dropping transformation and the rest of the star-studded ensemble filling out this new take on The Batman, March 4 can't come soon enough.
