10 Actors Who Began Their Career In A Soap Opera
4. Sam Strike
Sam Strike is undoubtedly one of Hollywood's most promising up-and-coming young actors. He has appeared in several series' already, including Timeless and Silent Witness, but it's his bone-chilling performance as serial killer Montie Ristle in Mindhunter that helped etch him into our memory.
Strike is currently killing it as Thale on Goerge R.R. Martin's Nightflyers, but before that, he featured in beloved BBC soap opera EastEnders, where he portrayed the first iteration of Johnny Carter between 2013 and 2014.
EastEnders went through a reinvention period during late 2013, at the hands of then executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, and Johnny was one of several characters that were introduced at the time. Strike was superb as the youngest member of the Carter clan, and his character has gone down in EastEnders' history due to his stunning coming-out scene, which is one of the finest to have ever featured on the British soap.
Strike's performance in this scene alone was enough to make the nation sob, and it instantly made him one to watch.
