10 Actors Who Could Be The Breakout Stars Of 2018
6. Elizabeth Debicki
You Know Her From:
Last year's Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, where she caused minor inconveniences for our heroes as golden-skinned snob Ayesha. The Australian actress was picked out as one to watch after her role as Jordan Baker in Baz Luhrmann's uneven take on The Great Gatsby and also featured as a villain in Guy Ritchie's failed attempt to reboot The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
In 2018:
Debicki has significant roles in no less then five movies, varying in style from Sundance indie The Tale to a talking rabbit in the live action-CGI hybrid version of Peter Rabbit (along with fellow bunnies James Corden, Margot Robbie and Daisy Ridley).
In April, Debicki will be appearing as one of an international cast of eight astronauts on board in the International Space Station in the midst of a crisis in the third film in the Cloverfield franchise, previously titled God Particle.
As is par for the course with the franchise, marketing has been deliberately mysterious as to the actual content of the film, so it's hard to say whether Debicki will have a major part or not, but all will be revealed soon.
Later in the year, she will definitely be playing lead roles in a pair of films with awards potential. Firstly Debicki is one of the titular Widows in the heist thriller from 12 Years A Slave and Hunger director Steve McQueen and Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn. Then she will star as Virginia Woolf opposite Gemma Arterton's Vita Sackville-West in biographical romance Vita And Virginia, based on the play by Eileen Atkins.
