10 Actors Who Could Play Donald Trump In A Film Biopic
4. Gary Oldman
Excusing the controversial remarks in 2014 about Mel Gibson being in "a town that's run by Jews", much like Daniel Day-Lewis, Gary Oldman is well known for keeping his views to himself (which in hindsight is probably for the best), which is why he's very popular among many film fans, as well as the fact that he's a damn fine actor. Because of Oldman's yearning for privacy in a profession that counteracts that desire, Oldman has kept quiet on his views of Trump, so if a good script was to come his way it is possible he wouldn't have a problem playing such a controversial president.
Oldman may not look much like Trump, but recent images have been released of the actor in character as Winston Churchill in Joe Wright's upcoming historical war drama, Darkest Hour. These days, thanks to Hollywood movie magic it doesn't matter if you look nothing like the person you're playing, all that matters is that you're a fine actor, because donned with the prosthetics, fat suit and trademark cigar, Oldman looks a spitting image of the British bulldog. It may as well be Officer Jim Gordon on your fancy new five pound notes.
Now, Oldman may not want to be involved in the controversy that would inherently come with taking on the role, especially as his agent, Douglas Urbanski, once described Oldman as "the least political person he knew". However, Urbanski won't be the least political person Oldman knows, as he often shares his right-wing views on The Rush Limbaugh Show in the US. Maybe Urbanski would give Oldman a friendly nudge into giving us a madcap, shouty Donald Trump performance, something that Oldman would undoubtedly be good at doing, as demonstrated by his many madcap, shouty roles in the past.
