10 Actors Who Drew Critical Acclaim In Awful Movies

5. Jim Carrey As Steve Gray – The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone could have been so much more than it was.

Starring Steve Carrell as the titular magician as he attempts to recreate his old magic (nudge, nudge) with his former partner in order to take on a dangerous and wildly popular street magician named Steve Gray.

With Steve Carrell and Steve Buscemi in leading roles, you'd expect for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone to be an awful lot funnier than it really was, especially given Carrell's undeniable comedic chops and Buscemi's bizarre charisma, but Jim Carrey's performance as Steve Gray completely and totally stole the show, both in the movie's story and in reality.

It can't be easy starring alongside someone as energetically brilliant as Carrey, and his satirical spin on magicians like David Blaine and Criss Angel was spot-on and hilariously presented in such a way that it's hard to understand how he wasn't the main character.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone wasn't awful, but it wasn't particularly impressive, and Carrey was, as always, the most captivating part of the entire movie.

That said, The Incredible Steve Gray really doesn't have the same ring to it.
