10 Actors Who Gave Their Worst Performance In Star Wars
6. Paul Bettany
Recruiting the routine scene-stealer that is Paul Bettany to the inter-galactic ranks for Disney's attempts to spin-off the galaxy's favourite smuggler felt like a bit of a no-brainer heading into Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Sadly though, instead of offering up another deliciously compelling showing like the Brit had throughout his run as Vision in the MCU and Stephen Maturin in 2003's Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Bettany turned in a rather timid and limp portrayal of supposed big bad Dryden Vos.
Droning and aimlessly meandering during much of his screen-time, the scarred figure doesn't so much as terrify as he does nullify any glimmer of genuine threat a scene involving him has to offer. And his eventual conquering at the hands of Emilia Clarke's Qi'ra felt like a mercy more than anything else.
Bettany could've definitely brought something fresh to the Star Wars sphere, but stepping into the shoes of a moustache twiddling antagonist like Vos, only to dial back on the explosions and menace was something of a misstep for both Disney's casting department and the actor himself.
