10 Actors Who Gave Their Worst Performance In Star Wars

5. Natalie Portman

As her ridiculously consistent back catalogue showcases, Natalie Portman is arguably one of the most diverse and absorbing actors of her time, picking up Academy Awards acclaim for her work in 2011's Black Swan, alongside further nods for the likes of 2005's Closer and 2016's Jackie.

And that's all without mentioning the project that first thrust her into the spotlight way back when, with her stunning work in 1994 as Mathilda Lando in Léon: The Professional putting Portman on the radar of just about every director worth their salt.

Sure enough, when it came time to cast the mother of Luke and Leia, Padmé Amidala, for his long-awaited Prequel Trilogy, George Lucas was all too happy to bring the up-and-coming sensation aboard his space opera epic.

Yet, instead of capitalising on the young star's unquestionable chops, Lucas largely restricted Portman's Amidala to little more than a bland tag-along in her Phantom Menace debut before further relegating her to the part of love-sick puppy in the subsequent Episodes.

In fact, things got so bad for Portman in the wake of the release of said early noughties entries that she'd later confess to New York Magazine, "...everyone thought I was a horrible actress. I was in the biggest-grossing movie of the decade, and no director wanted to work with me."
