What We Know

Naturally, pretty much everything about Avengers: Endgame is being kept under wraps, including the identity of Katherine Langford's character. The 13 Reasons Why star was reported to have joined the production last October, at which point she'd already shot her scenes.

Who She Might Be Playing

The rumours and theories on Langford's character are never-ending, as is to be expected with anything Marvel. Since we learned of her involvement, fans have speculated that she's playing Kate Bishop (a Hawkeye-type member of the Young Avengers), Cassie Lang (Ant-Man's daughter), and bizarrely, even Death.

Most of these guesses are baseless though, which is understandable, since we don't really have much to go on. The most recent rumour, however, is not entirely baseless.

Taking to Instagram, Langford posted a picture of herself sporting a bright-red hairdo, sparking conversation that she's playing a young Black Widow in the film. Around the time she posted this, reshoots for Endgame were taking place, so there's a chance that the actress' new look was related to this.

Then again, Scarlett Johansson already played a young Black Widow in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, so why would they need Langford to do it? Unless there are some "alternate reality Black Widow" shenanigans going on here.

Ultimately, whoever she ends up playing, don't expect to learn a thing before you're sat in the cinema on opening night. Hype!
