10 Actors Who RUINED Movies In A Single Scene
3. Topher Grace Wants To Kill The Spider - Spider-Man 3
Along with the rest of the world scratching their heads over the version of Eddie Brock/Venom Sony and Sam Raimi decided to go with in the 2007 mess that was Spider-Man 3, Topher Grace himself also eventually admitted to being a little surprised over his casting in the role to Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum (via ScreenRant).
On paper, the dude from That '70s Show didn't exactly seem like the right fit for the character eventually played by Tom Hardy from 2018 onwards. And that proved to be the case on-screen, too.
Specifically, the moment the audience was first introduced to Topher's Eddie in full symbiote form, when Brock converses with Thomas Haden Church's Sandman, murdered any chances of this trilogy ending on a high note.
Instead of striking fear into the hearts of those watching on and making viewers worry about Spidey's chances of getting the better of big bad Venom, Grace's attempts at a more menacing symbiote voice were all kinds of cringey.
Combine that with the visual of Topher's less than intimidating, cartoonish delivery tumbling out of a spikey-toothed Venom-masked-mug and you have a recipe for movie-ruining disaster.
