10 Actors Who Should Play The Joker In Suicide Squad

7. Sharlto Copley

While he has only appeared in a handful of movies since bursting onto the scene thanks to a memorable performance in District 9, Sharlto Copley has already proven himself to be a talented and hugely charismatic screen presence. No stranger to appearing in big-budget movies or playing the villain, the 40 year-old just has that glint in his eye that makes you believe there's something crazy about him, which is obviously one of the required traits when it comes to playing the Joker, one of the most iconic villains in the history of popular culture. Following his breakout role in District 9, Copley's performance as Murdock in The A-Team displayed a real talent for playing slightly unhinged and eccentric characters, while his turn as the villainous Kruger in Elysium proved that the actor could also play the bad guy with scenery-chewing relish, although his one-dimensional turn in Maleficent was a lot less successful. Copley has both the right look (particularly the grin) and the acting chops to make for a convincing Joker, but the only potential drawback is that his take on the character could end up as too broad and ultimately come across as hammy, ending up closer to Cesar Romero than any of the big-screen versions of the Clown Prince of Crime.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
