Who Are They?: An aspiring young actress living in Los Angeles, who is more famous for her murder than her attempts to break into Hollywood. Her death has been covered in countless books, movies and even video games.
Cause of Death: Short's body was found in a Los Angeles park on January 15th, 1947, severed at the waist and drained of blood. In addition to this, her face had been cut into a Glasgow smile formation, and parts of her flesh had also been severed, while her body had been crudely posed by the perpetrator. The official cause of death is listed as hemorrhage from facial lacerations and shock due to blows to the head and face. The newspaper soon sensationalised her murder, dubbing Short "the Black Dahlia", which resulted in countless nutjobs falsely confessing to the slaying. As of today, the case remains unsolved, which many reporters from the period suspect is a result of both journalists interfering in crime scenes, and the police's failure to secure evidence.
