10 Actors Who Suffered The Most In 2017

Though Matthew McConaughey's career has enjoyed a so-called "McConaissance" in recent years, it's fair to say that his hot streak began to cool back in 2015. It was this past year, though, which featured his two most prominent failures in quite some time.

McConaughey opened the year with the wide release of his Oscar hopeful Gold, which scored indifferent reviews and only just made half its scant $20 million budget back. The bigger stumble came over the summer, though, when the much-hyped blockbuster adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower became a critical dud and under-performed at the box office.

Though the actor certainly didn't embarrass himself in either case, it's still a huge blow that both his prestige and mainstream releases this year failed to strike a chord with audiences or critics.

At least McConaughey's 2018 is looking pretty interesting, as he's got three movies on the docket, and each is directed by a unique filmmaking voice (Harmony Korine, Steven Knight and Yann Demange). Could a second McConaissance be on the cards?
