10 Actors Who Took Movie Roles For Weird Reasons

In keeping with the line of thought that actors are, after all, human like the rest of us, many of them are parents. Even with the glitz and glamour that comes with the fame of being an actor, the likes of Javier Bardem wanted to make his children smile.

Bardem is an outstanding actor, having earned himself an Academy Award for his portrayal of one of the most sinister and intimidating villains in No Country For Old Men's Anton Chigurh, but not everything is about winning an Oscar.

Two of the actor's biggest roles in recent years have been as King Triton in The Little Mermaid, released in between playing Stilgar in both Dune Part One and Two. Bardem told Conan O'Brien on his podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend (see the 03:21 mark below), that he did Dune for the sake of his young son, and The Little Mermaid for his young daughter.

What dad doesn't want his children to think he is cool? There are certainly worse ways to achieve it than starring in some of the biggest blockbusters in recent years.
