When you think about the biggest action stars of the 1980s, the top two, without question, are Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The comparison was never lost on the two men themselves, as their well-documented rivalry grew heated over the years.

While Sly had the likes of Rocky and Rambo, Arnie had Terminator and Predator, as the two battled for who was the bigger star. The latter saw the opportunity to get one up on his rival when he received a script for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.

According to Arnie himself, he knew the script was terrible. He would have played Joe Bomowski, a police officer whose mom insisted on being included in every part of his life, including his work. The now-former Governor of California was right, as the movie turned out to be terrible, but it wasn't him who ultimately starred.

Arnie decided to put out that he was interested, knowing that Stallone would take the bait. This worked perfectly, as Sly took the role in a bid to one-up Arnie, but ended up comprehensively on the losing side. The man who did ultimately play Bomowski, now that the two legends are friends, can admit that he got stitched up by Schwarzenegger and that the movie was indeed terrible.
