10 Actors Who Won't Be Coming Back For Upcoming Sequels
7. Charlie Hunnam - Pacific Rim: Uprising
Charlie Hunnam's career just took a rather disastrous turn thanks to the failing of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Guy Ritchie's reimagining of the classic tale - and one that flopped massively at the box office (and seemingly put an end to a planned franchise that nobody really wanted in the first place).
Though the failing of the film isn't necessarily anything to do with Hunnam's casting as the titular hero, the studios behind the upcoming sequel to Pacific Rim are presumably counting their blessings that he was unable to return to the series, which occurred due to scheduling conflicts with the filming of the Papillion remake.
The follow-up, titled Pacific Rim: Uprising, has instead found a new lead in Star Wars: Episode VII actor John Boyega, and whilst Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, and Burn Gorman are set to reprise their roles from the first blockbuster, Hunnam isn't.
What It Means For The Film:
Hunnam was serviceable in the first film, but he wasn't really anything to do with why it was so much fun to watch. Let's face it: Pacific Rim is all about the robots, and Hunnam was just there to look pretty and spout one-liners.
