Thomas Lennon is a terrific comedy actor best known for his star-making performance as Lieutenant Jim Dangle on the hit series Reno 911!.

But Lennon has also made occasional appearances in more dramatic fare, particularly two films directed by Christopher Nolan.

Lennon appeared briefly in Nolan's Memento as a doctor performing tests on amnesiac Sammy Jankis (Stephen Tobolowsky), and was then called up to play an effectively identical part in The Dark Knight Rises, where he gave Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) a quick once-over.

Though the famously secretive Nolan naturally hasn't ever confirmed these two parts to be the same character, Lennon himself seems convinced he's portraying the same person. He said:

"I like to think I'm exactly the same doctor and it's all happening inside Guy Pearce's mind. Whether or not that's true is probably for Nolan to say. I'd like to think that's happening."

Outlandish theories aside, a filmmaker as meticulous as Nolan wouldn't cast an actor in the same role by mere accident, so in the very least the repeat casting is a cute tip of the hat to attentive fans.
