10 Actors You Forgot Had Minor Roles In War Movies

1. A Lot Of Actors - Black Hawk Down

Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down centres around a group of elite US soldiers stationed in Somalia during the Battle of Mogadishu. Because Saving Private Ryan set the bar very high for far war dramas when it came out three years earlier, it could've easily eclipsed Black Hawk Down.

Thankfully, Scott's film received the praise it so rightfully deserved due to its visceral action, harrowing story, and relentless tension. It also had an incredible cast, including Josh Hartnett, Eric Bana, and Ewan McGregor.

But if you delve a little deeper, you'll see some other familiar faces sprinkled across this war epic. Tom Hardy makes his film debut as the soldier, Twombly. Kim Coates, who's best-known as Tig in Sons of Anarchy, portrays Sergeant Wex. Ty Burrell played hardened Air Force sergeant, Wilkinson, long before he starred in Modern Family as Phil Dunphy. Although he's mostly recognised as Game of Thrones' Jaime Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau got his start in Black Hawk Down too.

But guess what? That's not even the half of it! So many other big names show up, including Jason Isaacs, Ioan Gruffudd, and Orlando Bloom, you just get desensitised to it after a while.
