10. A Skrulls Reveal And Space Battle! - Dark Phoenix

The Ending We Got

Dark Phoenix was a mess, obviously, and part of the issues came down to the editing choices and the heavy reshoots that transformed the entire third act of the movie.

In the version we got, Magneto and Beast go after Jean Grey to exact revenge for her murder of Mystique, leading to a big mutant on mutant battle after which everyone is arrested and put on a train to mutant prison. The alien Vuk attacks, looking for Jean and we get a huge train-based set-piece in which waves of aliens nobody cares about are used as cannon fodder.

Jean kills Vuk in space and seems to die (not really) and everyone cheers that the awful mess is over.

The Ending We Almost Saw

The original ending, which was apparently changed because of too many similarities with Captain Marvel was revealed in most detail by Tye Sheridan on the ReelBlend podcast.

He said that there would have been a battle at the UN after Charles and Scott go there to warn of the impending D'Bari invasion, where they find out the UN guards are all Skrulls (in his words - though it could be that he meant D'Bari instead because it makes WAY more sense) and battle them.

Then Jean would head to space, where she would have fought off the entire D'Bari fleet single-handedly in a scene very much like Captain Marvel's finale. Some concept art of that scene has been released:
