1. Stone Cold Steve Austin - Hell Yeah!

And finally, the greatest call and response of all time, from one of the greatest of all time. Stone Cold Steve Austin rose to the top of the WWE mountain by being one of the greatest performers the industry had ever seen, and a large part of that was he represented the people.

Whilst The Rock may have been their champion, the Texas Rattlesnake was their avatar, throwing up middle fingers to the establishment, drinking beer and kicking his bosses ass. Through Austin, the fans could dream of doing the same, and the fact he was a complete bad ass sent his popularity stratospheric.

His ‘That’s the bottom line’ sign off was awesome, but it was the simple call and response that he threw out that was his greatest. No, not the WHAT!? Chant, which to this day, is still the worst thing to happen to wrestling and this writer saw Mabel become King of the Ring.

No, Austin simply asking the crowd if they wanted to see him open up a can of whoop ass on someone, then to give him a ‘Hell Yeah’. Basically, he was asking for them to sign off on what they wanted to see.

It brought the fans closer to the Bionic Redneck, as if giving him the encouragement to beat down some unfortunate soul meant they were part of it all.

The greatest call and response in wrestling, and if you agree, ‘Gimme a Hell Yeah!’
