10 Amazing Trailers That Tricked You Into Seeing Terrible Sci-Fi Movies
5. Terminator: Dark Fate
When it comes to the Terminator franchise, it's not a question of whether it should appear on this list but rather which movie should take the spot. The series may have a legendary influence on cinema, but damn, it has really fallen into repute. One way you can see this is in its ability to deliver breathtaking trailers and failure to back them up.
There are a few prominent examples of great trailers to awful Terminator movies, with Salvation and Genisys being prime-time examples. But, it's Dark Fate that takes the cake for the most gorgeous teaser. Sure, the movie itself was better than the previously mentioned titles, but not by much, and certainly not as much as this killer ad would have had you believe.
This trailer had so much going for it, with one of the major highlights being the reveal of Linda Hamilton finally reprising her iconic role of Sarah Connor. But, there was way more than fan service, as the haunting "Hunter" by RIAYA x John Mark McMillan gave the whole thing a melancholic vibe. Plus, the set-pieces were spectacular, especially the epic aeroplane collision crescendo at the end.
It was an utterly mesmerising trailer that became an improved, yet still lacklustre, Terminator flick.
