10 Annoying Tropes Marvel Needs To Abandon To Save Phase 3
8. Things Always Start Off Well...
There's a noticeable pattern in the Marvel movies, particularly the sequels. Everything always starts off well for the titular heroes; why not kick things off with them in turmoil? For starters, that would help these movies feel less episodic, and would allude to the fact that the heroes are also out fighting to protect the world between each of their appearances. In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark is on the top of the world and revelling in being a beloved figure as Iron Man. Thor has finally finished cleaning up the mess made by his brother in The Dark World. Captain America has finally settled into the present day and is comfortable working for S.H.I.E.L.D. in The Winter Soldier. Even in Avengers: Age Of Ultron the team are in good shape for the majority of the first act after they successfully take down HYDRA. Chances are that this will happen once again in Captain America: Civil War as Steve happily gets along with his team of New Avengers before war among the heroes breaks out. After that though, it would be nice if Marvel thought about shaking up the rigid structure from their Phase 2 movies, making things a little less predictable from the start.
