10 Anticipated 2017 Movies That Have Already Lost The Oscar Race

The Buzz: A dark satire of suburban existence directed by George Clooney, co-written by the Coen Brothers and starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac? It's safe to say that the awards hype was through the roof the second this one was announced.

Why It's Already Lost: Perhaps the biggest disappointment on the Oscar trail so far, Suburbicon received incredibly mixed reviews out of both Venice and TIFF, with criticism mainly being leveled against a script that's reportedly full of tonal missteps and is overly heavy-handed with both its satire and social commentary.

Reviews could tick up slightly when the movie releases for general audiences, but as far as Oscars or even Golden Globes go, it's dead on arrival. A rare swing and a miss for the Coens, but Clooney will take most of the blame.
