10 Awesome Action Movies That Didn't Need A Sequel, Remake Or Reboot
1. Hard Boiled
Hard Boiled may have eventually been the subject of a video game sequel, but on the big screen at least John Woo decided that one shot of Tequila was all we were going to get.
Woo's last movie in his native Hong Kong before he made a decade-long detour to Hollywood, Hard Boiled is regarded by many as possibly the finest action movie ever made. While the plot is nothing to write home about, the film lives and dies by the almost wall-to-wall shootouts and fist-fights, boasting several set-pieces that sit comfortably among the genre's finest, with the extended third-act hospital sequence in particular a phenomenal achievement in both choreography and filmmaking.
Following the release of Stranglehold onto consoles in 2007, there were initial plans to adapt the game into a full-blown return to the big screen for Chow Yun-fat's Inspector Tequila, before it was then changed to a prequel that would focus on a younger version of the character. Given that we're now thirteen years removed and the project still hasn't moved any further forward, it would be safe to say that we won't be seeing cinema's most famous clarinet enthusiast again anytime soon.
