10 Awesome Actors Who Just Dropped Off The Face Of The Earth
3. Rick Moranis
Rick Moranis was a comic treat in the 80s and 90s. He was not your typical leading man even in the genre of comedy. His quirky personality and nerdy vibe made him different and he played up the personality to create memorable roles in classic films like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Tragically, Moranis lost his wife to breast cancer in 1991 and began taking less and less roles because the time management was too difficult with him being a single parent. After Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves was released in 1997, Moranis stepped away from show business and has never fully returned. He's done some voice work (the last credit was Brother Bear 2 in 2006) and just released his first comedy album in eight years this past summer. Other than that, the funnyman has denied numerous offers to return to Hollywood acting. Though saying he doesn't miss the spotlight, the project that could potentially pull Moranis out of retirement is Ghostbusters 3 if the long rumored project ever happens. Moranis declined to reprise his role by voicing his character in the video game from a few years back and he's said in the past he has no interest in a third Ghostbusters. However, in a recent rare interview, Moranis revealed that he's not entirely against reprising the role of Louis Tully should the movie ever come together. Fingers crossed.
