10 Awesome Fan Theories That Improve Already Great Films

Finally explained - why the eagles didn't fly the Ring to Mordor.

You don't have to look far to find some crazy fan theories. The internet is completely awash with alternate readings of your favourite films that turn existing works into something completely different. The problem is, most of them are a load of rubbish, often done to explain non-existent issues. Michael Keaton's Batman puts the face of his latest nemesis onto his memory of his parents' killer; Willy Wonka is actually a child killer; James Bond is a code name; Aladdin is set in the future. They're cool and all, but that doesn't hide the fact they make zero sense and add nothing of value to the film itself. That's not even touching on the ones that try to make every film into Fight Club; if a film doesn't have a theory that one of the key characters was actually imaginary it's not really made. Movies as diverse as Titanic, Bruce Almighty, Ghostbusters, Ferris Beuller's Day Off, No Country For Old Men, Indy 4 and even The Dark Knight Rises all have prominent theories that state at least part of the film takes place in a character's head, despite no in-movie evidence to suggest so. With so many idiotic theories out there it's easy for pretty awesome (and more importantly believable) ones to get overlooked. Well today we aim to right that, bringing you ten fan theories that actually improve their respective films. Get your mind ready because it's about to be blown.
