10 Awesome Movie Inventions (That Would Suck In Real Life)

6. The Amazing Spiderman: Web-Shooters

Men In Black 3
Sony Pictures

The Amazing Spiderman reboot decided to get rid of the not-so-bad idea of organic web-shooters from the Sam Raimi movie in favour of Peter Parker building his own web-shooters. They work just fine in the movies, but they neglected to show just how difficult they can be to live with.

There's the issue of having buildings to swing from. As transportation or a toy, these web-shooters are only useful in a large skyscraper-filled metropolis, meaning that they could only be used in a few select locations around the world. There is also the sheer physical grunt needed to grip and swing your way across the city, meaning that owners will have to splurge on gym memberships and make sure everyday is arm day.

The web-shooters use Oscorp's industrial strength bio-cable, which is 10 times stronger than steel, so it's probably safe to assume that this superior steel alternative will also take longer to biodegrade. This also means that super-strong strands of webbing will litter the city every time someone fights crime or misses the bus. Leaving these stray super-strong web strands hanging about for hours would result in more people and cars getting coat-hangered than a football match. So not only are the streets going to have a big litter problem, you'll have the local street cleaners to deal with as well.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
