10 Awesome Movie Jobs You Had No Idea Existed

8. Jurassic Park's "Dinosaur Supervisors"

There are few cooler job titles in the world, let alone Hollywood, than "dinosaur supervisor," though that's precisely what was afforded to legendary, Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Phil Tippett while working on Jurassic Park.

Tippett was originally hired to create the film's dinosaurs through stop motion, though once Spielberg ultimately decided to use CGI instead, Tippett was kept onboard to oversee the animation of dinosaurs.

Tippett had to ensure that the movements of the dinosaurs were consistent with how they would theoretically move in reality, such that even the smallest piece of muscle tissue needed to react realistically or risk ruining the audience's suspension of disbelief.

Amusingly Tippett was brought back to work on Jurassic World in 2015 with the new title of "dinosaur consultant," leading fans to joke that he had been demoted due to not sufficiently supervising the dinosaurs during production of Jurassic Park.

Tippett wasn't the only consultant, though: paleontologist Jack Horner was also hired as a scientific advisor to ensure the dinosaurs moved in ways consistent with what their bones tell us about their physicality.

Better yet, Horner is also allegedly the partial inspiration for protagonist Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill).
