6. The Matrix - Lobby Massacre

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es2uYtSJh-Y One of the more disturbing consequences of an awesome movie moment, the lobby scene in The Matrix is unquestionably one of the most spectacular action set-pieces in movie history, yet something people tend to ignore - perhaps wilfully - is the fact that not everyone in that building was a bad guy. Sure, The Matrix is absolutely crawling with Agents, but it's also got far more actual people, who are simply jacked into The Matrix but essentially living their lives, and if they die in The Matrix, then they die in real life too. Still, Neo doesn't seem too care too much as he and Trinity nonchalantly tear through the gang of security guards at the entrance of the building. It wouldn't be quite as spectacular, but what about some tranquilliser darts or some nerve gas? Great as the film is, this is one of those nagging things that once you realise it, there's no way to just un-think it and blindly enjoy the scene.
