4. Fight Club - Downtown Destruction
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9Huy-JP1xo Another fiercely debated scene is the end of David Fincher's masterful Fight Club, which sees Tyler Durden's plan to blow up all of the city's credit card buildings and reset our financial standings to zero come to fruition; the final shot sees around half a dozen buildings collapse into a rubble, something we're supposed to find exciting and darkly amusing, but there are also some more unfortunate consequences of that action. Even if you can forget the fact that some poor saps walking the street in the middle of the night are going to be crushed by falling rubble - after all, Durden would likely enjoy the chaos - one can't help but feel bad for the various cleaners and maintenance workers who were probably inside those credit card buildings, who have now been killed through an act of terrorism. Again, Durden would probably attest that they're "part of the system" merely by working for one of these companies, but nevertheless, it's pretty savage.
