10 Awesome Movie Sequels (That Don't Make Sense At All)

7. There Is No Point In Changing The Future - Back To The Future Part II

back_to_the_future_part_iiBack to the Future and its sequels tell the story of a young man, Marty McFly, and his best friend, the lunatic scientist Doc Emmet L. Brown. Doc Brown invents a time machine in the original movie, which creates all kinds of problems that thankfully get solved, but given the success of the first movie and an ending which was done for a joke but still implied further adventures, we got a couple of sequels, which were still awesome. If you remember the ending of the first movie, Doc Brown comes back from the future to tell Marty and girlfriend Jennifer that something has to be done about their kids, or else, like, they won't have good lives or something. That made no sense at all, of course, but originally that "plot" was just supposed to be a gag that went on the end of the film so they could show the DeLorean flying. Nobody thought they'd actually have to shoe-horn a plot out of the notion of "changing the future." Because think about it for a second and you'll realise that the entire premise of Back to the Future Part II (and Part III, even) hinges on a moot point: if Marty and Jennifer are planning on coming back to the present, why would they need to go change the future? Nothing they do will have any consequence. All Doc needed to do was say to them: "Hey, in so many years you need to avoid this." Solved!
