10 Awesome Planned Movie Cameos (That Sadly Never Happened)
6. Roger Moore - Never Say Never Again
1983 was positioned as the “Battle Of The Bonds”, with Roger Moore’s Octopussy going head to head with Sean Connery’s unofficial Bond entry Never Say Never Again. George Lazenby even got in on the act by playing J.B., a suspiciously Bond-like character in the TV movie Return Of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Obviously, fans assumed there’d be some kind of rivalry between the two stars, but since Moore and Connery were good friends they didn’t care. In fact, Connery had an alternate ending in mind for his movie, where Bond says he’ll never go back into the field again and a stranger brushes past him.
Connery's Bond looks around and does a double take, as the stranger is none other than Roger Moore, who tells him to “NEVER say never again!” The two actors thought this cheesetastic idea was great, but EON – who officially own Bond – weren’t keen on the idea, so it never happened.
