10 Awesome Planned Movie Cameos (That Sadly Never Happened)
5. Pinhead - Freddy Vs Jason
For such a simple concept Freddy Vs Jason spent a long time in development hell, where no less than a dozen scripts were penned. These scripts included outlandish ideas like Jason being on trial for his crimes – including a ten-minute scene reading out every single murder he’d committed during the series – and the reveal it was actually Freddy who drowned Jason when he was young.
A fairly basic concept was chosen for the final product, where the two monsters are put at odds when Freddy uses Jason to kill for him. This results in an epic showdown where they rip each other to pieces, but to avoid upsetting horror nerds too much the ultimate winner is up for debate.
One potential ending had the two being dragged to hell at the end. They’re surrounded by demons in an arena, and as they’re about to fight again they’re separated by chains. Then Pinhead of Hellraiser fame appears, and asks “Now, what seems to be the problem gentleman?”
New Line didn’t want to pay for the rights to the character for such a small cameo, so this ending was ditched.
