Doctor Who isn't the only formidable sci-fi universe that Paul McGann has left his prestigious mark on, you know. Back in 1992 the future Eighth Doctor star appeared as Golic, a mass murderer and outcast, in the ill-fated third installment of one of Hollywood's most iconic cult franchises. Good luck trying to find an Alien fan who's willing to sit through it with you, though, because most of them have convinced themselves that it never even happened.
You know how some Doctor Who fans like to pretend that Colin Baker's tenure was sucked into a crack in the universe? Well, it's kind of like that.
In its defence (though not really, because the producers really should've seen it coming!), it was doomed from the start. Its famously turbulent production was repeatedly postponed when its various writers and directors kept dropping out until they were eventually forced to start filming without a finished script.
Even Sigourney Weaver - who had fronted the first two critically acclaimed installments - wasn't 100% convinced that it was a story worth telling. The moral of the story? Always listen to Ellen Ripley, you bitch!
