One of the most-complained about facets of the new RoboCop is that the main gangster villain is pretty awful. While the original movie had Kurtwood Smith's brilliantly vicious Clarence Boddicker, the equivalent character here, Antoine Vallon, gets about five minutes of screen time throughout the entire movie, and it's only in brief spurts. We see him during an initial action scene, plotting Alex's murder, and then pretty the next time we see him in a significant capacity is when Alex guns him down at a warehouse. Vallon is barely featured in the trailer at all, and it's difficult to find pictures of him online, making it clear just how poorly underdeveloped he is. Though you could argue that this take focuses more on OmniCorp as the villains, the original film managed to have a ruthless gang leader as well as a great corporate criminal, so why not this one? Aside from having Murphy die and solve his own "murder", Vallon's existence was pretty pointless in this movie.
