10 Awful Movies That Wasted An A-List Cast

6. The Monuments Men

George Clooney's directorial career has always been wildly inconsistent, but the one area where he's always excelled is assembling his casts, which are always top-notch regardless of the quality of the final product. Unfortunately, Monuments Men turned out more like Leatherheads than Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

Clooney and regular collaborator Grant Heslov have been responsible for several critically-acclaimed and awards-bothering movies like Good Night, and Good Luck, The Ides of March and Argo, but despite The Monuments Men boasting his starriest cast yet, the nostalgia-heavy period piece fell flat with the vast majority of critics.

Which is a real shame because Clooney and co-stars Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Cate Blanchett are all capable of much better than the warm and fuzzy nostalgia-driven story that The Monuments Men ultimately turned out to be.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
