10 Bad Movies Made Much Better If You Watch Them As A Comedy

7. The Happening (2008)

Director M. Night Shyamalan was once hailed as the next Steven Spielberg. Though after finding early success with films like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs his career began to take a nosedive. In 2008 he released his magnum opus of silliness simply known as The Happening. The plot revolves around a cryptic neurotoxin that causes anyone exposed to it to commit suicide. Mark Wahlberg plays the protagonist, a science teacher named Elliot Moore who attempts to escape from the mystery substance with his friends and his wife Alma (played by Zooey Deschanel). Shyamalan himself tried to pass this debacle off as €œthe greatest B-movie ever made€ (like he did that on purpose). Though, intentional or not, this film offers a lot of moments that are guaranteed to make you chuckle. One scene in particular finds Mark Wahlberg talking to a plant like it€™s a person, pleading with it not to kill him. Suddenly he realizes that he€™s actually talking to a plastic plant, and feels appropriately idiotic. It doesn't make the movie great, but it's a start.
